Stimulus Package for Business - Apprentice/Trainee wage subsidy

With many small businesses concerned about their survival and retaining staff during this time, we have summarised the current Federal Australian stimulus information with some details on eligibility and how to access these measures....

Cash flow assistance for Employers:

Apprentice or Trainee wage subsidy up to 50%

This measure will provide small to medium sized businesses with up to a maximum of $21,000 ($7,000 per quarter) to over the costs of apprentice and trainee wages.

  • Wage Subsidy of 50% of the apprentice/trainee wages during the 9 months from 1 January 2020 to 30 September 2020.

  • Business must employ less than 20 full-time employees.

  • Apprentice or trainee must have been in training with the small business as at 1 March 2020.

  • Employer must register to access the subsidy, which can be done from early April 2020, and meet the eligibility requirements which will be conducted by an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider.

  • Final subsidy claims must be lodged by 31 December 2020.
